Kim Kardashian’s Shoe Dazzle

kimkardashian_shoedazzleAnd so it begins.  It is brilliant actually.  A shoe purchasing plan that gives to pumpophiles what Bag Borrow and Steal did for luxury handbag rental.  Except you get to own.

Kim Kardashian has found a way to address all of the shoe hungry women in the world by creating shoedazzle, a site that, for $40 a month, provides you with your own personal shoe stylist and a pair of shoes into yesteryear.  Here’s how it works:

  • Take a survey to determine your shoe type
  • A stylist will pick out five (5) pair for you
  • Select your first pair, you are charged and the ‘monthly membership society’ begins

Exchanges are free, and if you are quick enough on the trigger you can skip a purchase on the months you don’t want shoes.

There are definite pluses to this, but my main question is quality.  The shoes pictured looked very Payless.  There is nothing wrong with that, except you could probably get them for half the price in store.

I don’t fault KK for tapping into women’s desires for great footwear and, dare I say, the feeling of luxury in a time when people are scrimping and saving left and right.  But where the quality of luxury handbags was without question in the rental program, ShoeDazzle seems to be showing a lot of obvious pleather. For $40 I would probably enjoy the thrill of the hunt at Marshalls or TJMaxx where I could see the workmanship and try everything on for size.

What do you think of this program?  Have you purchased any of the shoes?
