While I’m hemming and hawing on the White House Black Market dress, MAC’s email on Grey Friday came in. 2 minutes later, that set is mine! I knew they were skipping pink friday this year and I’m on the train. Snap yours up for $31 + free gift wrap + if you enter GREY you will get free 2nd day shipping. How awesome is that?
The donations drive continues for nail techs that have lost it all in Hurricane Sandy. Techs are getting vetted through Nail Talk Radio and matched up with supplies that come in. New or gently used products are what it takes to get these survivors back to business.
The first thing you think of in a situation like this is sanitation. What is the gold standard in our industry? Why, Barbicide, of course. Barbicide was originally manufactured out of New York until it was bought and transferred here to Milwaukee several years ago. What a koinkidink! I gave them a quick call and they were only too happy to help.
Check out the two cases of Barbicide and Barbicide wipes. Thank you Barbicide!
Every donation, big or small, helps an individual manicurist. I’ve been touched to see donations from a single packet of art sponges to a baggie of polishes and nail files.
Nail tech Sonja sent an artist’s dream box full of glitters and tips and heck, I think there is even a drill in there. It came all the way from IOWA:
Every little bit helps, and I know there are more shipments coming in this week. If you’ve got extra supplies you aren’t using, consider donating to Nail Techs in Need. This will link you to the Facebook page and mailing address.
This year I got the sexy vegetable assignment. Well, the sexy was missing, but I’ve gotta do something to spice it up. What are doing for Thanksgiving?
CND debuted Pink Grapefruit at the Christian Sirano show at Fashion Week in New York
What was one of the prettiest colors to show at fashion week appeared to be a lacquer that CND is releasing spring 2013.
Now with the early release photos of Pink Grapefruit in CND Shellac(!) it makes one wonder – is the demise of Colors & Effects leading to matching polish? The most amazing possibility for this is that clients will be able to easier extend their Shellac wear if traveling.
ETA for the spring line of Shellac is March 2013. We can hardly wait!
To say Hurricane Sandy wreaked havoc feels like an understatement. For many nail techs in the path of destruction, supplies and shops were lost and some insurance doesn’t cover “natural disasters” like a hurricane. To add insult to injury, Sandy hit well beyond New York…
I’m reaching out to Milwaukee area nail technicians to join me in sending product to Nail Talk Radio’s drive to help these manicurists get back to business. Whatever you have – polish, orange wood sticks, UV lamps – anything that will get someone back to work, please consider donating. If you have product or supplies you’d like to donate, please drop it off by Saturday, November 17th to:
- Scenario Hair Design
- 2317 E Capitol Drive
- Shorewood, WI
I’m hoping with a combined effort our Milwaukee area will be able to help even more nail techs that have lost everything in Hurricane Sandy. And remember, if you live outside of Milwaukee, consider your own drive for Nail Tech Radio. Spread the word! xo
