Neiman Marcus Stores to Accept Visa and MasterCard Nationwide

Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus and Macy*s is not the only place he wants to shop

What’s Hot for November:

British jewelry designer Stephen Webster shows his new Murder She Wrote collection Wednesday, November 2 from 11am-4pm in Chicago.  He’s a favorite designer of Madonna, Rihanna, Katy Perry and many more artists for his wicked interpretations of themes and liberal use of jewels.  Daisy Lowe is the current face for the campaign.

Impulse buying at Neiman Marcus will never be the same, and for good reason. After all, because NM has declined to accept Visa and Mastercard instore over the years, most shoppers had adjusted to the ATM Sprint. At least on North Michigan it went something like this:

  • Spot something own-worthy
  • Realize that cash or Amex, you’ve left home without it
  • Bust through the double doors and down the street to the ATM
  • Withdraw dangerous amounts of cash in very public places
  • Hand over stacks of bills to pay for items (the stories are legendary)

Or,  you know, just leave.

Leave no more, as Neiman Marcus begins accepting Visa/MC officially on November 1st.

Citing customer desires for “flexibility in their payment choices,” the in-store shopping experience is now catching up with online ease.  I had a chance to try this out a little earlier in the week while I was in Bellevue.  The customer service was wonderful as usual, and as I handed over my card there was only the slightest of hesitations.  “Yes, it’s Visa” I heard one say to another, and a quick, tentative swipe completed the transactions.  Holiday shopping kicks into gear this month, and Neiman Marcus makes it easier for all to spread a little more cheer by accepting charge cards.
