NYFW: CND rocks sandstone Alexander Wang and silverscreen at The Blonds

As Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week wraps up, CND showed two opposite but equally appealing looks at Alexander Wang and The Blonds. Photos courtesy CND.

The Blonds, that dynamic duo of fashion designers, always gives free reign to the nail company to go wild.  This time they outdid themselves with the movie theme of the line, running The Shining, Gentlemen Prefer Blonds and a number of other flicks across bejeweled and decorated tips.  How many movies can you spot?

On the opposite end of outrageous, Alexander Wang showed what was cased as a “Sandstone” nail.  Tan shades fanned across the nail  then buffed to a matte.

I need this bag and skirt in my life.

Check back for the full pictorial album upload.

Fekkai Lead Stylist Paul Hanlon Creates an Undone, Edgy Look for 3.1 Phillip Lim’s Fall-Winter 2013 Fashion Week Runway Show

Fekkai stylist Paul Hanlon created an accidentally undone look for this season’s 3.1 Phillip Lim show. Hanlon drew his inspiration from the concept of a sophisticated, uptown girl with a rocker, downtown boyfriend. The edgy look complimented the effortlessly cool pieces in Lim’s collection.

THE LOOK: Hanlon drew inspiration from the uptown chic-meets-downtown cool looks in 3.1 Phillip Lim’s show

HOW TO:

1. Begin by combing a generous amount of Fekkai Full Blown Volume Styling Whip through damp hair

2. Create a defined part and blow dry hair using a round brush to create volume

3. Spray Fekkai Perfectly Luscious Curls Wave Activating Spray on the hair from mid-length strands to ends. Then, using a 1.5-inch curling iron create loose, natural looking waves with texture.

4. Next, gather hair towards the mid-back of the head and secure with a bobby pin. Don’t be too perfect with this; Hanlon purposefully played with unbalanced proportion. Girls with shorter hair can skip this step and leave the style loose.

5. Separate ends by applying Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Crème and mist hair lightly with Fekkai COIFF Sheer Hold Hairspray to finish the look.

All Products by Fekkai: Fekkai Full Blown Volume Styling Whip ($25), Fekkai Perfectly Luscious Curls Wave Activating Spray ($25), Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Crème ($25) and Fekkai COIFF Sheer Hold Hairspray ($39). All products available at Fekkai.com, ULTA.com, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue.

MBFW: Gucci Westman and Revlon beauty for rag & bone Fall 2013

Revlon Global Artistic Director, Gucci Westman, backstage at rag & bone

WHAT: Revlon Global Artistic Director, Gucci Westman, juxtaposed the masculine designs of rag & bone’s Fall ’13 collection with a soft and feminine makeup look.

“I wanted to create a look that was super girly and contrasted with the masculine feel of the collection,” says Westman. “The focus of this look is definitely the eyeliner. I added a bit of a modern twist to a classic 60’s look by using a gel liner across the top of the lid. I kept the rest of the look simple and paired it with natural and luminous skin. I love how the whole look is a bit retro, but still fresh.”

Ted Gibson’s team showed Pink Chalk tipped hair at Carmen Marc Valvo

While the model’s legs carried beautiful shoes. All part of the announcement that H.H. Brown is  launching Carmen Marc Valvo footwear for Fall 2013.

Footwear styles from the soon-to-launch collection were featured today on the designer’s runway during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Valvo’s Fall 2013 collection, made up of outstanding eveningwear and perfectly tailored pieces, gave a nod to a magnificent punk, baroque theme.  This story was conveyed in the footwear through the dark yet elegant color palette and discerning silhouettes. Plush suede and rich leather in black and burgundy highlight the looks and encompass the season’s inspiration.

Three standout footwear styles were featured on the runway. The styles include: BETH, a feminine bootie accented with sleek mesh and a demure bow; ELSIE, a timeless mary-jane updated with a modern silhouette and double strap, pointed closure; and MARA, an of-the-moment pointed top pump, with a distinguishing double wrap ankle strap.

Carmen Marc Valvo Calzature will be launching for Fall 2013. This footwear collection will be the finishing piece to the World of Carmen, as the design house currently produces couture, ready-to-wear, eyewear, swimwear and fur. Carmen Marc Valvo Calzature is manufactured in Italy and is crafted in the finest Italian leathers. Extraordinary craftsmanship, impeccable fit and distinguishing details are factors that are synonymous with Carmen Marc Valvo’s designs, and these attributes are the true elements of his footwear collection.
