Celebrate National Skin Care Awareness Month – Free Product 9/30

rr_berryeventstaff(2)

As always, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. This is most apparent in skincare, where positive, lifelong habits and great product can prevent or dramatically lessen unhealthy tone and aging.

Celebrity skincare expert Renee Rouleau believes everyone needs to understand how to care for the skin they are in, and founded National Skin Care Awareness Month to help the movement. Says Rouleau:

“I know that consumers are confused with the myriad of information available when it comes to caring for their skin. It is my goal–to set the story straight–by sharing my 20+ years of hands-on experience with others so they can be a smarter skin care consumer. I share real and truthful information, that anyone can benefit from, regardless which line of products they use.”

For Texans, the month ends easy on the eyes when, on September 30th, Renee Rouleau Skin Care Spas in Dallas and Plano offer free, no purchase necessary, skincare gift bags for the taking!

Between 10am – 2pm, these gift bags will be delivered by her signature special event staff: Male models in “I heart Renée Rouleau” t-shirts, brought right to your carside.

This is the same skincare with clients that include Melissa Rycroft, Brooke Shields, Lisa Rhinna.

The Front Door Gift Bag Pickup Promo bag includes the follow: Gift Certificate, skin care samples and other skin care products for a total value of $100.00

Make sure you do a drive-by at one of the following locations on September 30, and drop us a photo!

Fall Hair Trends by Pantene Expert Hallie Bowman

global_shine_LRG

As we enter the fall season today, it’s important that we do what we can to help prevent further damage that’s already been done over the summer. Luckily, the color trends we will be seeing this fall are conducive to rehabbing your hair – it’s going to be all about giving your natural hair color a chance to shine and staying away from the harsh colors and bright platinum shades that are most damaging to your hair.

halliebowman“The days of striking, contrasting colors are gone this season,” explains Celebrity Stylist for Pantene, Hallie Bowman. “This fall people will be going back to their roots, or at least making it look that way. We’re going to see natural-looking tones to balance the more extreme hair styles that are going to be big, including mixed textures and nods to the 80s shapes.”

The Color Trends:

* Blonde: Platinum blonde is out and warmer, neutral tones are in. If you’re blonde Bowman recommends shades of sable, vanilla or mink. However, if you’re not ready to let go of your platinum locks, soften the look by adding some golden highlights.
* Brunette: Reddish or bluish browns are out and warmer browns are in. Shades like deep chocolate and chestnut are going to be all-the-rage; it’s all about making your shade believable.
* Redhead: Two words – true red. The key is to ask your stylist to stay away from blue and copper undertones, both of which reflect orange in the sunlight. One way to avoid orange is to add some highlights to cool down the shade.
* Black: Stay away from blue undertones and go for ebony to keep the shade natural-looking.

Maintenance:

Once you’ve achieved the shade you want, keeping your color looking fresh can be a challenge, but it doesn’t mean you have to spend a lot! Bowman recommends using a shampoo and conditioner system that is developed for color treated hair, such as the ones from Pantene

“I love the Pantene Expressions collection because it keeps hair color looking fresh, and helps reveal the three facets of hair color: tone, depth and vibrancy,” explains Bowman

The Pantene Expressions shampoos are formulated with a patented liquid crystal technology that helps repel water and condition hair to keep color radiant. The five collections are custom designed by shade – blonde, brunette, red, midnight and highlighting – to help color-treated hair maintain its vibrancy and multi-dimensional shine in between colorings.

The Pantene Expressions shampoos and conditioners retail for just $5.49 apiece at national food, drug and mass merchandisers, and online at drugstore.com.

Return of the Bomber Jacket – Mothers Only

Today I sent my son off to school in his new bomber jacket. He is one who will always opt to be a “little more fancy” if given the opportunity. I consider myself lucky!

Back in the 80’s the Members Only Bomber jacket was THE jacket to own, and during our Back to School shopping I found a gorgeous replica by Guess. (can’t find a photo anywhere). The problem is, while son needs a jacket to transition through fall, I have no idea how long this look or the construction on the jacket would really last. And it was $70. I love that whole English Rocker thing Guess is doing for kids, but no dice.

So what did I spy as we were cruising through Target?

Distressed pleather bomber with nice detailed stitching in front and back. Good lining. Working and decorative pockets. $24.99 – and you know they go on sale. Fits beautifully and takes the outfits up a notch too.

So pleased that there is a place to find transitional clothing that keeps kids and mom happy without breaking the bank. He can pick up the Guess if he chooses when it comes back in another 20 years.

FDA warns Allergan Website too Skimpy on Latisse Warnings

The makers of Latisse can’t bat their lashes out of this one.
latissebrookeshields

Latisse mascara, developed by Allergan Inc. from glaucoma medication, triggers eyelashes to grow at a quick rate and is approved for “thicker, fuller and darker” lashes. The Food and Drug Administration, however, has given the company a warning for their website and promo materials for failing to promote the side effects of the products as well as the intended benefits.

In my post from January on Latisse’s release I mentioned a few of the issues the medication could cause,  and here is another rundown:

  • Permanent darkening of blues eyes to brown
  • Irritation
  • Bacterial eye infection
  • Excess hair growth outside treatment area

It was found that Latisse warnings were sometimes missing on the website while present on other materials.  The FDA has asked Allergan to stop using all current promotional materials that omit the information of these potentially serious side effects and to respond to the agency by September 24th.

latisseinfoIf you weren’t aware of these issues before, does an awareness stop you from using or potentially using the product?
