CND Shellac: Summary

Milwaukee/Mequon/Shorewood area: Make your appointment now for this 14-day manicure online or call (414) 964-9311
How do you get great nails?  Shellac is the answer.   Here is a little FAQ I wrote for About.com that I hope will answer many of your questions on the product.  Check it out here, as well as swatch posts here and a video here!  And scroll down to see supporting photos of product under weeks of wear and tear.

A Shellac manicure is the easiest way to give natural nails the beautiful, finished look of gel or liquid & powder without going artificial.

For the last 5 weeks I’ve put it to the test on clients and on the most notorious nail polish abusers known: the stylists at Harpo’s Salon in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin.   After exposure to water, hair dye, gardening (yes) and cuticle biting, Shellac stayed strong, shiny, and kept the nail beds healthy.

The difference is clear: An example of nail condition after gel and nail condition after Shellac

Erica’s hands after: The Shellac manicure leaves hands looking beautifully finished with a high shine for a top coat.

Before Shellac, Harpo’s owner Peggy Dixon was only able to keep a polish manicure nice for four hours.  Here are her hands after 3 weeks of Shellac!

Condition after three weeks of Shellac: Harpo’s owner Peggy Dixon has perfect nail beds after removal.

Hey, Bright Eyes – LED Eyelashes Give New Meaning to Term

led_eyelashes_side

Considered the windows to the soul, people are forever looking for ways to widen and brighten up their eye area. In Korean culture, women are often scheduled for eyelid surgery as soon as they are old enough for approval. But when surgery and cosmetics aren’t enough, it could be time to turn to LED eyelashes.

Artist Soomi Park developed this project based on Big Eyes Fetish, and believes LED lights help to widen the eye area through light and movement. A wired sensor “works with the movements of the pupil in the eyes and eyelids.” Lights flicker when the head moves.

Only for clubbing or would you dare wear this elsewhere? And does it really do the intended?

BladeRunner – Dyson Runs Blades Right off of the Fan

That quirky company that brought the world to its knees over purple vacuums that promised to suck have now tackled a different version of airflow: the fan.
dyson_airmultiplier
Dubbed the AirMultiplier, Dyson delivers the first fan sans blades – sort of. If you review the full diagram you’ll see blades are still needed in the column portion. The overall look is without a doubt stunning, and could probably keep a mother of little ones happy with less risk of losing fingers. This would also make a great conversation piece in the office.

This company is absolutely inspiring in how they bring design to the masses.

However, hovering around $300+, you’ll need to debate if you should forego disappearing blades and opt for the disappearing magazine to fan yourself with instead.
