Those Wedding Eyes: Kate Middleton Uses RevitaLash

Kate Middleton may have had good money paid for her manicured nails, but she took her makeup in her own hands for her special day.  She has a trademarked rimmed eyeliner for those gorgeous peepers, and what does she love to enhance her lashes?  Mascara by RevitaLash:

This high performance, clump-free formula thickens and conditions and is available in black and brown.  It works especially well with the RevitaLash EyeLash Conditioner (available at Harpo’s 14.961.9824).

Kate Middleton Royal Wedding: Why Bridesmaids Wear White

Who’s That Girl?

Color for bridesmaids is a relatively new thing, an American thing in particular.  And while Kate and William switched many things up to be less traditional British and a little more red, white and blue, one move was decidedly without color.

When I saw Pippa and the party I was so excited an old superstition tradition carried forward.

It used to be that the bridal party dressed in white to confuse any evil spirits from successfully targeting and taunting the bride on her most important day (and ever after).  Of course I’m not sure this is why Kate chose white for her day, but Pippa looked so smashing there won’t be a ghost of a chance this royal wedding is getting ruined.

Anyone else remember this bridal train move from the 80s/90s? The only thing missing is all of the bouquets on the hem.  Seriously.

Royal Wedding: Philip Treacy Hats

Victoria Beckham in a Treacy hat. Sadly, David is wearing clothes.

Treacy created 36 new hats for the royal wedding and you can’t even count how many existing collections were raided for this occassion. Last year I met Philip Treacy through a gracious invitation extended by Neiman Marcus.  His hats are amazing works of art:

Royal cousins

Journalists wore Treacy hats (except Ann – what’s with the flowers?)

Watch the royal wedding footage to see how many you can spot.

Kate Middleton Channels Grace Kelly, Ivanka Trump

The stories of the “shocking, plunging neckline” are greatly exaggerated, but there was a good slice of V showing.  Kate Middleton’s dress looked surprisingly like a cross between Grace Kelly (appropriate) and Ivanka Trump’s, and used a beautiful trend of the moment, lace.  I love how the lace at the top tied in with the hand-made applique that followed the entire hem of the gown:

“When she alighted from the carriage, there was a gasp. The crowd was delighted in her choice of dress.”

As had been hinted at months earlier, the dress was designed by Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton in ultimately not a full McQueen style.  A little curious, but lovely.

The earrings were a gift from her parents.  The tiara on loan from the Queen.

The ceremony was described as starting off as a relaxed garden party.

Kate Middleton’s Wedding Manicure

Have you been enjoying the wedding? It is lovely!  One thing I was anxious to find out was the manicure details, and it turns out that Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla Bowles had a bit of girl time with Kate.  Camilla’s long time manicurist Marina Scandoval from Jo Hansford salon traveled to give both women a luxury soak, exfoliation and deep tissue massage.  A custom mix of Bourjois no 28 Rose Lounge and Essie 423 Allure was applied.  The look is soft, enhanced beauty that is totally modern and spring like.  I only wish she had known about Shellac in Negligee – it would have lasted during her 6 week honeymoon!  The manicure wedding gift from Camille cost approximately $65 USD.
