FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Press Release)– Jan 05, 2011 – Cleveland, OH
Funny how life works out sometimes…
Growing up in the Soviet Union, a little girl named Zoya dreamed of being a ballerina and dancing to Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake. Now, many years later, after a life immersed in music as a classical pianist and becoming a star in world of cosmetics, dreams have come true.
Enter the recent theatrical release of Black Swan. Early on in the film as the lead dancer, Nina (portrayed by Natalie Portman), prepares in her dressing room for a gala where she will be revealed to the masses as the new Swan Queen, a solitary elegant bottle of nail polish briefly takes over the screen. This is where the line between a little girls fantasy and reality blissfully blurs. The bottle shown is Zoya Nail Polish in a delicate shade of pink named Bela.
Zoya Reyzis (founder of Zoya Nail Polish) and the Swan Queen of Swan Lake together at last.
Zoya Nail Polish can be found worldwide at quality salons and spas or online… http://www.zoya.com
Available in Bela and over 300 other long-wearing, beautiful colors, the healthy formula of Zoya Nail Polish is completely free of formaldehyde, toluene, dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and camphor.
Zoya is the new color of fashion!

“Hot and Not” video – Polished, fresh, capped off with perfect nails
Let’s talk about those fabulous nails! Are they real?
They are real. I have natural thick, long and strong nails.
Do you do your own nails or go to a salon? What is your typical routine?
I go to a salon. My typical manicure is french with glitter. I only get the soft rainbow glitter or soft pink glitter. I only get silver or gold glitter on top if I’m going to Las Vegas.
What are your favorite products/colors?
I like OPI the most. Light pink and fire engine red.
What is the look in your “Hot and Not” video?
My hot and not video look is going for that natural roll out of bed look, but in reality it took me a couple hours to achieve. It’s neat and natural. My make up is done by an artist at Benefit and my hair is done by the best stylist, Brooke, at DiPierto Todd salon in Mill Valley, CA.
The secret to great nails?
The secret to great nails is always carrying a nail file in your purse and filing them every day.

Hairstylist Stephen Lewis shares how Solessence readers can duplicate Kate Mara’s casual locks for Sundance using Leonor Greyl:
“Kate Mara wanted to wear a hat but I applied some Serum de Soie Sublimateur to her dry hair and worked it in. I then ran a blow dryer through her hair to give it volume and a tussled look. I finished the look with Eclat Natural on my fingertips and she was ready to go!”
Catherine Keener kept it loose and casual for her Friday arrival at Sundance. Hairstylist Stephen Lewis worked on her look for both day and night, and gives us the breakdown on how Solessence readers can achieve the same look:
1. Lightly spritz hair with water and apply Leonor Greyl Serum de Soie Sublimateur, working it in.
2. Dry hair and apply a small amount of Eclat Naturel on the ends.
For the evening look (not pictured):
“I applied Serum de Soie Sublimateaur to her wet hair and then blow-dried it with a large round brush. I then applied Mousse au Lotus Volumatrice to the crown of her head for volume. I finished the look with Eclat Naturel. A little goes a long way and makes the hair look very polished.”
It’s all about product, product, product. Leonor Greyl is the brand Madonna travels with on tour.
Lisa Logan “installed” Beyonce’s Minx nails, along with 15 of her dancers. What do you think of the metallic manicures?
What? You’ve never heard of the Minx? It does seem to be Tinseltown’s best kept secret, but I assure you women across the nation are partaking of this decorative art. Remember Sally Hansen Chrome? Only better. Minx is an overlay product that can be placed on natural or artificial nails. Once chosen design is applied, a trained Minxicurist tackles it like shrink-wrap, applying heat (such as through a blow dryer) to shrink and secure product. The advantage to Minx is that the design options are endless, and move from the very loud and fun metals to plaids to possibilities with pictures. Are you ready for a Minxicure?
As mentioned, Minx is a popular beauty tool for Beyonce. Lady Gaga has also sported Minx in her videos. This is a very fun and ornate line that will especially appeal to those that already love nail art, and will really be advantageous for dressing up holidays.
I love everything Drew Barrymore. She must have participated in #80sphotoday on Twitter, because that was the heyday for the ‘do she was sporting. The ala Angie Dickenson was a little bit of a mismatch with her elegant gown, but she still gets props for being daring. Her dark red clutch and eye-popping ring complimented the ensemble.
Are those druzy earrings? (photos via JustJared because sadly, I couldn’t make it)
Kleinfeld Bridal, featured on TLC reality series “Say Yes To The Dress”, has selected three designs from couture designer Gilles Montezin in their new lineup for the discerning bride-to-be.
Joining such notables as Monique Lhuillier and Reem Acra, Montezin is having a banner year, with creations in movies “Sex and the City” and upcoming “Confessions of a Shopaholic”. As he is no virgin to screen time, we hope TLC will provide a little Montezin action as well!
What a way to enter Friday. Syd sent these images of a story he’s just completed – beautiful, seemingly 40’s inspired images, just now to share. The clothes! The lighting! The elements! The hair! Did we mention the hair?!
While in the waiting room…a game show called Temptation was on. The volume was down so I couldn’t hear what they were saying but all of a sudden [Solessence] products were on the screen and I got all excited and looked like a complete idiot. That’s all.
Hey, we’re just as excited as you are! When we were first aired back in September we thought it was a one show deal, but it has been a feature on and off since. We love hearing from Temptation fans!
We’re not one to promote a certain body type or image, but it is hard to deny the amazing transformation of Mimi. This girl is shining. Maybe it was flying in the trainer from St. Barts that gave that extra ‘oomph’ to her willpower? Kudos, girlfriend, for finding your extra-happy weight. Comes at a good time too…You just know breaking all of those Elvis records would have brought on a certain, late 70’s, poly jumpsuit comparison. No one can go there now! Now bring on the music.
Billy b has been busy lately! If you’ve been keeping track you know, among many other things, he produced a series of looks for Bravo’s “Make Me A SuperModel” (including Holly’s winning look – which was on fire).
He’d also been working on a pilot for Bravo, which sadly didn’t get picked up. Focused more on his efforts to help his town in Aberdeen, MS save their history, it highlights Billy’s town facelift project. Following is an excerpt from Shannon Nelson’s interview with Billy last year and clip from the pilot:
To be honest, I was not looking for a show, but it was this show came to me.
billy b:I am from Aberdeen Mississippi, which is a tiny town in the middle of nowhere. It is struggling like most small towns in America. At one time in the late 1800’s it was rich with cotton etc., which produced tons of gorgeous Victorian and Antebellum houses there. There are more than 250 structures on the National Register of Historic places in this town of 4000. Now there is no industry there and farmers are struggling and these houses were being lost due to neglect and no one having the money to keep them up. There is little opportunity for young people and these houses, which had once been passed down generation after generation, were being left behind, torn down or falling down. I began buying the houses to save them and a writer (Isabel Gonzales) was on a job with me and we chatted about what I was doing there. To make a long story short, she pitched it to The New York Times and my story was featured on the cover of the Home and Garden section. The television producers started calling and I signed a development deal with World Of Wonder productions, and Bravo loved the idea.
The show is about my life juggling doing makeup within New York and Hollywood for magazines, music videos and celebrities on the Red Carpet, but contrasted with my other life of saving these houses with my down home crew helping. It is just me, my 74 year old (pistol toting mom), my ex-con, good ole boy contractor Cecil and trust me the hilarity begins. Who knows if the show will even make it to television, but I am excited about how it might help my little hometown. I am excited about the possibility!
Shannon: Rebuilding your hometown is something you are passionate about, at what point did you decide that this was something you wanted to do and were you worried about how you would get it done?
billy b: I am SO passionate about it and it began a long time ago, actually. I had been living in NYC for years and would go home and see this place where I grew up dying. It made me sad. The houses are so beautiful and so incredibly inexpensive, so I just started buying them. I didn’t have a plan and still don’t LOL! I just do what I need to do as its needed and I worry about the rest later. I have saved about 20 houses and have 17 at the moment. It is a huge struggle, but a struggle I enjoy. It is another creative outlet for me other than doing makeup. Like the name of the show, “The Beauty Foundation,” there are a lot of similarities. I love the art of transformation and making something the best it can be. Whether it is a face or a house, I live for it.
Beautifully, he’s saving real estate and helping people at the same time. He’s Oprah on a smaller scale!
That her team on The Celebrity Apprentice is failing to gain ground on the guys does not make Galan a sore loser. As the rules go, the CA winners would have money go to a group of choice. With a defeat seeming imminent, The producer of The Swan decided to take fate into her own hands and earn a few benjamins for her group of choice by using a backup to her teammates: mass girl power.
Galan had announced she would personally donate $25,000 to her chosen group, Count Me In/Make Mine A Million. This organization empowers entrepreneurs via money and mentors, building a community of winners. To add to her 25k, Galan and Make Mine A Million asked members to pledge $10 each to reach a goal of 250,000.
On the Today Show, it was announced that a total of ***Two-Hundred Thousand Dollars*** was raised! I hope she in no way considers this a shortfall. It is rare to see celebrity pull through for the groups or charities they claim to back, and Galan’s honest and clever efforts showed Trump and the world that women CAN pull the right strategy out of the hat when needed. You’re a beautiful example Ms. Galan!
Ah, it seems only yesterday when Solessence went to People Magazine’s “Los 50 Mas Bellos” party in NYC. The 50 Most Beautiful issue is their hottest selling and biggest issue of the year, and now they’ve found a way to bring their following into the magazine folds: elect a non-celeb for the 51st slot.
Although entries closed on February 3rd, over 5000 submitted their picture online, with plenty of reader feedback. From this, ten finalists will appear on Telemundo, with the winner chosen on February 28. From there, it will be a March reveal and a trip to NY for a makeover/photoshoot, participation at People Magazine’s 50 Mas Bello event, and a spot on a famed Telemundo soap opera.
What do you think of People’s idea to include a “civilian”?
Due to work conflict I missed SAG and didn’t Tivo either, so I resorted to the delightful Beauty Addict’s posts (brillz!) and then this, the apparent brangelina network that is fox news. I am as eager as the next person to see if the bold and beautiful is carrying twins (and with that tent of a dress and set of new knockers, it will be a shock if she isn’t) but I was dismayed the first 37 photos seemed to be of the two. I forwarded to the 60s and still was coming up Pitts.
What happened here?
I honestly thought this was CarrotTop. Mz Messing looks a hot mess, which is so unlike her! I’m one to talk, but I’m not showing up red carpet either. Some disaster surely happened beforehand. The gown is gorgeous, just think hair didn’t make it to the church on time. If that stylist wasn’t in a deadly accident, I would be expecting some trouble…
And I love meeting up with people from the past, like the lovely Yolonda Ross. Yolonda, who was in “Antwone Fisher”, most recently had a role in the Golden Globe winning, Todd Haynes “I’m Not There” (you go Cate). We recently reconnected before the holidays when she excitedly told me about a play she is in that premieres February 7 at Public Theatre in New York City. Billed as a play that “tells Nine New York stories that converge in a racially and sexually charged tale of love, justice, rage and betrayal”, Yolonda glows about it being a ‘really touching piece’.
Mark Wing-Davey’s “Unconditional” has already been given an extension and now runs through March 9, 2008. Catch it while you can!
The number one question these days seems to be, “What makeup does Kim Kardashian wear?”.
So there you go. Girl is always looking flawless and is clearly a MAC fan. Extra points to anyone who can identify shade using their crazy color system. We love us some MAC too.
I don’t think any of us ever envisioned Solessence featured on a game show, but how cool was that? For those of you just checking in, ‘Temptation‘, a brand new game show by the creators of American Idol and a remake of the popular 80’s ‘Sale of the Century’, creates tension for players by offering great deals along the play to the ulitmate prize. The show features a green section, and Solessence is nestled in ‘Earth Friendly‘ with Gaiam and Seventh Generation, and also under ‘Beauty’. Ultimately, contestants can win the grand prize of a car for a fraction of the real world price (like Mark, who scored the yes, green Prius for $800+ some change), or they can pick up goodies along the way and still try to strategically win. Will you slip up and blow the bank before you score? Will winner take all? You have to tune in to watch.
Audience members and home viewers also get a cut of the action, with luxury items offered for sale at the same types of discounts before commercial break. Solessence was the first product up. We’ve taken this shot from the Temptation gameshow website. Attempts to mimic Perez Hilton’s signature airbrushing to bring attention to our Really Lovely collection on the right went unappreciated, but we trust you’ll be able to spot the set. We don’t know how long these are offered for, but we can’t believe the pricing on these items. AND, it is always free shipping. That is truly a shopper’s paradise. Thanks to everyone who selected our products for the game show, and thanks to those of you placing orders.
This just in! We’ve just been notified that the Solessence Really Lovely Collection will be a featured gift for purchase on the brand new, FOX network game show, “Temptations” THIS FRIDAY. Here’s a little scoop on the show:
“Temptation”, the new “Sale of the Century” is an exciting, high-energy game show from the producers of “American Idol” and “The Price is Right”. “Temptation” combines two of America’s favorite pastimes–pop culture and shopping.
Hosted by popular television personality Rossi Morreale, “Temptation” features three contestants who earn shopping cash by answering questions about pop culture and current events. Along the way, players in the lead are enticed to spend some of their winnings on incredible bargains. But the player with the most shopping cash at the end of the game gets to go on the biggest shopping spree on TV! The goal is to get to Shoppers Paradise, a fantasy marketplace where the winning contestant may spend her Temptation dollars on luxury items at unprecedented discounts.
And for the first time in television history, “Temptation” viewers can get in on the action while watching their favorite game show…
Details are just coming in, but if you’ve ever wanted to try the Really Lovely (High Altitude French Lavender)collection, or need an excuse to stock up on a favorite, you will never see an opportunity to buy luxury items like this anywhere else. We will keep you posted!

Customer Raves “Never being much impressed of other hand made, all natural soaps, I thought yours may not be much different. Well, much to my surprise, I picked up your soaps, one by one, scent by scent and was so pleasantly surprised! I LOVED all of them! They each had the perfect blend and amount of aroma. Each note complimented the other in the soap. None of which gave me a headache! LOL! I typically will pick up a soap and have to shake the smell out of my nose. Yours were perfect.” ~ Karen Anselmo Levittown, NY

Where has the time gone? One minute we had just put our manicured toes into summer; next it seems we are suddenly transported to the gateway of fall. We hope you enjoyed every moment of it!
For us it has been a bit of a whirlwind – but a very good time. One cap to the fab 3 months was the invitation to work with People again for their Emmy bag. Our SheaShea Creamed Sugar & Coconut Milk scrubs made it into each bag – and we hope onto each body!
We really enjoy working with People and thank them again for such an honor and opportunity. A pleasant experience must be a kind of corporate culture there, as we met up with several from the press over the summer. A few had worked at People in the past and relocated to different states. Their response was always – ‘Oh what a great company! I just loved working there…”
Solessence Morning After Shave Solution Sets purchased for the 10th Anniversary of the Michael Jordan Flight School
This year’s session will be held at the Mirage Hotel and Casino Las Vegas, August 19-22, 2006. Hall of Fame coaches, along with Michael Jordan, will be sharing their knowledge, love and passion for the game of basketball with the common man. They will also be sharing 170 gift sets of Solessence’s Morning After Shave Solutions, a beautiful, leather bound case containing organic herbal concoctions for a seriously smooth shave. Shave Oils, Shave Lotion, Hydrosol Toner, Weekly Detox Mud Mask, a Mach3 travel razor and Egyptian Cotton steam cloth are all included, scented in the very popular Yuzu Gold (japanese citrus). This silver accented, glass bottled set is a pleasure to look at, and comes with a Solessence travel bag.
Extreme Makeover doll, Ed Sanders, shares the Creme de la Coconut scrub with his wife. Such a cute couple. I don’t know what she’s using, but her hair is to die for.
I’d mentioned earlier that Gio Williams had the sweetest bling on in the form of a guitar necklace, but it was blocked in our faux ‘gangsta’ pose. People sent over these snaps where you can spot it! Cue close up…
Pixie-ish Callie Thorne of FX’s “Rescue Me” dropped by to pick up a set of Creme de la Coconut. Isn’t she cute?
I couldn’t help wondering…is she keeping this for herself, or sharing? I’m thinking her character Sheila could help Tommy ease some of that tension with a nice pampering session. Hey, firefighters get sore muscle, and their girlfriends too! He’s practically screaming out a need for a nice long soak in the bubbly.
This photo does not begin to do justice for the beautiful interim co-host on BETs “106 and Park“. Does BET know when they’ve got a good thing? If they don’t snatch her up, you can be sure there is a line waiting…
Is it the water? The heritage? The name? Every Denise I have known has been attractive, and Puerto Rico is notorious for the genetically beautiful. Along comes Denise Quinones, former Miss Universe and current actress, only reinforcing those theories. The statuesque bombshell was unwaivering with her gorgeous smile, even as Telemundo and other press/radio came rushing towards her when they heard she was in the building. What grace. She even gave a shout out to Solessence on air – thanks! We hear Ms. Quinones just signed on to a record breaking contract with CBS. She’s got a long career ahead of her.
Pictured alongside is model Denise Vasi, who is quite captivating on her own. Shouldn’t she be making a list soon?
Bronx boy Gio Williams sang his way into the heart of the public by winning Telemundo’s “Nuevas Voces de America”, and he was Los Mas Bellos and more. Too bad you can’t see the bling guitar necklace (hidden by the bag), it was sweet! So is Gio, and very hot in person. Gio asked us to pose ‘gangsta’ with him, but sadly, we just look suburban.
It’s interesting how the scents are divided almost regionally. At this event, the Coconut and Really Lovely (high altitude lavender) were flying off the shelves. Nely Galan (The Swan) and People en Espanol Publisher Jacqueline Hernandez-Fallous both gravitated toward the coconut. That Nely sure knows how to work it!
Puerto Rican hearthrob Luis Fonsi is completely affable, totally photogenic (as you can see here), and beautiful inside and out. We send him many wishes for happiness in his marriage to Adamari Lopez. Two years engaged, and he stood by her through thick and thin- which included her bout with breast cancer. What a man! What a couple!
Paige Hemmis and Daniel Kucan came out to support their fellow cast mates Eduardo Xol and Ed Sanders (Extreme Home scoring two Mas Bellos – what a coup!).
Joe Pantoliano of The Sopranos is a wise guy on and off screen. This multi-tasker is a hub of energy, running every which way mugging for the cameras. He’s great! He’s working on producing a couple of shows at the moment and stocked up on Really Lovely to keep him going during the down times…Joey, you might want to wash that soap block down with matching dry sprays or lotion.
Where are the men, you ask? Coming right up! We start off with Mr. Xol (who must be 6’6) – can you say ‘Gorgeous’? Music, theater, design – this multifaceted man is genetic perfection. He has a sensitive side too! The new season of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition begins filming in July, and we are just counting down the days.
This fabulous ‘It’ Girl is so charming and approachable. Zoe Saldana is now the face for Rocawear, and we zoomed over by cab to 44th where you can see her towering personage making Jay-Z proud. I told Zoe my son had a RocaWear outfit at 3 months, but in looking through the files I can’t believe he only has 3 (bad) photos in that outfit. Here is one. Zoe, on the other hand, looked smack dab fabulous for the party. We need a photo of her in that white dress with her Grecian thing goin’ on! Zoe selected:
Four scents, that is. We took along Yuzu Gold (japanese citrus), Really Lovely (high altitude lavender), Creme de la Coconut, and Days of Wine & Roses (berry/floral). Our signature lotion fountain was a hit!
She waivered, considering Days of Wine & Roses, but maybe she felt selfish taking so many. Honestly Carmen, you could have had them all!
Carmen is currently gigging as the new face for Max Factor – a great, innocent/edgy choice we think. She’s also got books, videos, clothing and perfume all rumored in the line up. Bizzy!
People Magazine’s Event staff shop at Whole Foods Market Columbus Circle (NYC) and have been enjoying our products. So much so that we were invited to celebrate People en Espanol’s 50 Most Beautiful (Los Mas Bellos) by handing out our luscious organic coconut milk & unrefined shea butter hand cut soaps, scrubs and lotions to winners and industry VIP. When we got the call (“I love your soap…Really Lovely is in my shower right now!”) we nearly fainted. Should we go? Were we worthy? We can’t believe we even questioned it. Went we did…and it was divine!
The two day event was held at the Tribeca Grand Hotel, with a blowout party at Skylight Studios the end of the second day.
Thanks to People for a spectacular time. Everyone else, read on for more photos!
